She was the youngest child in the new Springfield neighborhood which consisted
of two double houses with a big vacant lot between them.
There were 13 children in those two houses and Ralph mowed the grass on the vacant lot so the
children could play there on summer days. The school was across the street.
Rhoda finished Third grade there and Carol started First Grade and immediately was skipped to Second Grade.
Dorothy was President of the PTA.
Margie started to First Grade at Public School 58 in Indianapolis, Indiana
where the family had moved by l939. She took piano lessons and Ralph and Dorothy bought her a grand piano.
She sang in the girls octet in Howe high school, in Irvington and attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio,
where she graduated with a major in music. She later taught elementary school in Indianapolis.
